I'm the kind of person who notices typos, wrong punctuation, and so on when I'm reading just about anything: books, newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs — even signs! I've read the Chicago style guide out of curiosity, on my own. I don't assume that everything is accurate. I check.

I am a proofreader with more than fourteen years of experience in a wide range of areas. I have proofread books (print and electronic), journalistic and academic articles, memoirs, oral histories, manuals, websites, and newsletters.

 

I strive to be detail-oriented. I enjoy carefully reading every line, looking for misspellings, missing or repeated words, wrong words, wrong or missing punctuation, and a host of typical errors that often go unnoticed or are overlooked by authors as they are immersed in their creative endeavors.

 

I have extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I have often spotted and corrected periods inside the parenthesis that should have been outside, quotation marks facing the wrong way, letters or words that are italicized or in boldface that shouldn’t be, or not italicized or in boldface that should be, too much spacing, and letters in the wrong font, for example.
